SAHIR LUDHIANAVI  (1921-1980)  AND WORDS  "PAL DO PAL.." 

Sahir has repeatedly touched the issue of transitory nature of human life . He uses words "PAL DO PAL" 

to convey this hard fact of human existence. "Pal do pal " literally means a moment or two . The bubble of human existence ; present this moment and gone the other moment. Apart from appearing in his  poetry , Pal do pal is visible in many film songs of Sahir. I quote some such songs:

(1)  Mein pal do pal Ka Shayar huun.(Kabhi Kabhi)

(2) Pal do Pal Ka Saath hamaara (Burning Train);

(3)Jo bhi hai bus yehi ikk pal hai

Aage bhi jaane na tu ( Waqt)

(4) Pal do pal ka sath hamara

Pal do pal ki yaari

Aaj ruke to kal karni hai

Chalne ki taiyari

Basti basti parvat parvat

Gata jaae banjara (Railway Platform)
