UTARAA  TERAY KINAARAY  JAB KAARWAAN HAMAARA ... MOODS OF JHELUM OR VITASTA RIVER IN SRINAGAR CITY .

PHOTOGRPHS  BY AUTAR MOTA ...

AND I ALSO ADD THAT.........
Verinag spring alone is not the source of Vitasta or Jhelum RIVER. . Vitasta is shaped at Khanabal near Anantnaag after the merger of two main streams of south kashmir...Bringhi and Vethwatroo ( source a spring below Verinaag ). Bringi stream which is fed by a number of tributaries of which the most important are east Bringi and west Bringi. It is essentially formed by waters coming from glaciers of *Simthen pass (3750 metres ) and* Margan Pass ( 3800 Metres ) ,. The stream is mostly fed by seasonal snow melt which generally lasts up to August and September.
A little ahead of Bijbehara , vitasta is joined by Lidder stream coming from sheshaang and Kolhoi glaciers. And then at sangam Bijbihara, veshov stream flowing from Kounsarnag glacier joins it .Another major tributary known as Sindh stream , joins the river at Shadipora Sangam about 20 kms down srinagar city towards north . So Verinag spring alone is not the source of Jhelum or Vitasta . ………

*Both Simthen and Margan passes lead to Kishtwar valley from kashmir . To approach Kishtwar via the beautiful Wadwan valley , Margan Pass is the ideal route .Wadwan is the name of the river that flows in this valley. People speak undiluted kashmiri language over here. I conclude this brief post with a quatrain in kashmiri composed by me ...

Tell them about the Mountains ,peaks and the hills ,
Should you ever tell our past story to  these vast  deserts .
Tell them about Wular Lake , Dal Lake , Aharbal waterfall, Sindhu stream and vitasta river ,
Do tell them about  our  satisar lake and the story of Neel Naaga of kashmir .
