NIGEEN LAKE VIEWS

I have uploaded some views of Nigeen Lake which i visited today. I also visited the highly reverred shrine of Hazrat Bal , university of Kashmir ,Ishber Ashram of Swami Lakshman Joo, Naseem Bagh ( Old REC ) , Shere Kashmir's Mazar On Dal banks at Naseem Bagh , Kathi Darwaza . Chhati Padshahi Gurudwara and Rainawari . We went via the foreshore Road which branches out at Nishat Garden and goes all along the Dal ( Old Tel Bal Nallah ) to open at HABAK near Nasem Bagh . This is the route people take to go to Mata Kheer Bhawani or Hazrat Bal shrine now in view of heavy traffic on Khanyar route . Right from Dalgate one has a majestic view of the lake till the road joins HABAK at Naseem Bagh . I have photographed Nigeen Lake from Ashai Bagh Bridge only as the Nigeen club is closed for public and the road is under extensive repairs . I have also taken a view from Saida Kadal of the Water way ( MAAR ) leading to Rainawai. The view of a Man selling flowers in the Boat is just below the Ashai Bagh bridge .The Views depict that the lake needs immedite attention else it may gradually die an unnoticed death. . Weed growth in this lake is also malignant. . The Red roofed building appearing in one photgraph is Hotel Daar E Salaam on Nigeen Banks below Ashai Bagh Bridge . One can enter the lake from Rainawari Waterways below the Saida Kadal bridge or from the Dal lake directly below the Ashai Bagh Bridge. The lake also has many houseboats and Shikaras. I vividly remember that Lata Mangeshkar would stay in one of the House Boats owned by Clermount Group of House Boats in this lake only. It was in this lake only that my friend Ajodhia Nath koul ( who would join me on many a swimming trips in Dal and Nigeen ) came running to me informing about the presence of Late sanjay Gandhi and Dr Farooq Abdullah on the same house boat from which we were diving in the lake waters. We talked to Sanjay Gandhi in particular . No poetry today . It shall come in my next blog.
Enjoy Nigeen views .
