SANAULLAH SAHIB ... THE FORGOTTEN SAAZ E KASHMIR PLAYER ( SUFIANA MUSIC )

 I had uploaded the above photo on my Face Book page with a request to my friends to  identify the Artist .  I had no knowledge who the artist was .I was told by a friend that this artist played Saaz e Kashmir with  late  Tibbetbaqal Sahib’s Sufina Troupe . He was also seen playing Rabaab when Tibbetbaqal sahib  played  Santoor or sang some Sufiana Kalaam.

Sh Farooq Nazki Eminent Broadcaster and Media personality from kashmir identified him as Sanaullah sahib.

Nazki sahib also informed :

“Autar ji this is rare  of the rarest....... In fact he is legendary Rabab Nawaz. Sanaullh. He would sometimes play sazi- Kashmir also.... Known as Gaaz in soofiana....sanaullha' s recording in available in radio Kabul and unfortunately not in Srinagar archives”

Prof jaya Parimu also added :

“Sona-ullah was the best Rabab player of his times.His son then took the mantle of playing Rabab and was employed as staff artist in Akaashvani Srinagar in his father's place. Didn't know that he had also know how of playing over saaz-i-kashmir.An instrument played in different genre of one of the styles of Kashmiri music.”
