( LEFT TO RIGHT YOUTHFUL URDU POET ALI
SARDAR JAFRI , CHITOPRASADA AND KALPANA JOSHI IN MUMBAI. THE YOUNG COMMUNISTS )
On this Highway of existence,
Meeting and parting is surely a normal routine ? Does a man always receive pain
on meeting or parting from fellow travellers on this Highway ?
I quote Poet Ali Sardar Jafri…..
Ikk Ikk kar ke Khileen Thhi
Kaliyaan Ikk Ikk kar ke Phool Gaye ,
Ikk Ikk Kar ke Hum Se Bichhadey
Baagh e jahaan mein Yaar Bahut..
Jo Bhi Mila hai Le aayein Hain
Daag e Dil Ya Daag e jigar ,
Vaadi Vaaadi Manzil Manzi Bhatkey
hain “SARDAR” Bahut ..
And Kalpana Dutta became kalpana
joshi after she married P C Joshi in 1943.PC Joshi was General Secretary CPI
.Kalpana was a firebrand Bengali revolutionary freedom fighter who fought
against British Raj along with Surya Sen. Unfortunately, she remained unsung. She also did exemplary work during Bengal famine. In
fact ,she was also sentenced for life and deportation by British
rulers and released some years after
Gandhi Ji personally intervened.
And
Chitoprasad or Chittoprosada
Battacharya was another Communist from
Bengal . He joined the grassroots movement
to resist both colonial oppression by the British, and also the feudal oppression
of the landed gentry in Bengal. He was a self taught painter. He lived at Andheri
Mumbai and painted some fine portraits of Stalin, Lenin, Mao and a
series on Bengal famine. Sardar Jafri and other friends called him Chitta. He died at
a young age of 63 in 1978.
