SUNSET, HUDSON RIVER FRONT AND MY POEM .......
(Tonight's Music )
"The strings of
the Veena are slack,
Silent, trembling with unspoken grief.
No drum, no flute, no accompanying sound is tuned;
No note dares to rise.
This Jugalbandhi will
birth no music,
Not a single Doppler’s beat to stir the air.
The audience is drifting away,
Their footsteps echo in the empty hall.
A few who stayed back are unfamiliar with Raag -Shastra,
Who shall call forth
Kedara, Yaman,
Durga, or Bhairavi?
Even sixteen beats of Teen Taal
Can’t weave their rhythm into the Veena’s silent lament.
Soulless shall be the
Dhrupad tonight,
Tonight, O Master!
What music do you propose
to play?
