NAVREH IN EXILE
"Aessi raev koll, booen,naag ta parbat,
Saeki shaatan kar phael pamposh.
Draalav hyot mujji molla jaadaad,
Baskeen feraan khaana-badosh...
Sheenas tal fojmitch yemberzal,
Ath mosh navreh thaaluk bosh ....
Yeti kuss zaani zi kya guv navreh
Sonteiki vaavo hosha hosh..."
( Avtar Mota )
My English rendering is as under:-
(We lost the
brook,
The Chinar tree,
Our Vitasta River,
The sacred springs,
And Hari Parbat.
Greedy brokers clutched
our homes and fields;
And we became wanderers,
Leaping from city to city,
From roof to borrowed roof.
When have lotuses
ever bloomed in deserts?
Now, in our
homeland,
Narcissus flowers bloom too soon,
Pushing through frozen winter snow.
Alas! They no longer find their place
in the sacred Navreh Thaali.
O spring breeze,
Walk gently through our land;
In that city now,
No one remembers what Navreh is.)
NAVREH POSHTE: BIKRAMI NAV-VARSH KI SHUBH KAAMANAAYEIN.....
