KATHI DARWAZA PAINTED  BY THREE  ARTISTS  OF KASHMIR......

Exquisite in  style and presentation, all the three paintings succeed in evoking  strong nostalgia . The one showing a building on its left is a watercolour done by  D.N. Walli (1908-2006), the great water colourist from Kashmir. Second one that shows the Darwaza and vegetable buyers / sellers has been done by Bansi

Parimu (1933_1991) , another stalwart  artist from Kashmir. The third painting is a work of Masood Hussain(born 1953)  that focuses upon the inside space of this Mughal structure in Kashmir. Masood Hussain is again exceptional in his style and presentation. All the three artists have retained their focus on man around the structure . You find people in all the three paintings 

Kathi Darwaza  is a stone gateway and a  part of one of the last remnant sections the wall around Hari Parbat  built by Emperor Akbar during  the late 16th-century .

Art also seeks to bring about a particular emotion or mood, for the purpose of relaxing or entertaining the viewer.  I believe all the three paintings succeed in this as well. And sometimes  this type of art becomes a communication that heals the scars of the soul.
