THE DESERTED HOUSE
IN KARAN NAGAR SRINAGAR AFTER THE ARMED
MILITANCY FORCED THE KASHMIRI PANDIT FAMILY TO
MOVE TO PLAINS OF THE COUNTRY TO SAVE THEIR LIVES.
WHEN THE CROW REQUESTED THE WIND TO ENQUIRE..
Where have the people gone? What happened? Unmoved remains the window curtain since long and darkness lies in the courtyard. No one comes out to light a lamp. Who shall enquire ?Who shall go inside? O god ! What to do? The birds have been coming again and again to have the grains. The Kawa_ Paett( wooden slab meant for keeping morning food for crows and sparrows) is dry as none has put any food upon it since long ? Where shall the birds go ? The birds come daily but return sad and hungry . A crow requests the wind to move in and look what happened.
This is what Kashmiri poet Prof Rehman Rahi coveys in these two lines...
" Na chhu daa'ri alaa'n pardh'a na chhu braandh'a dazaan Tso'ng,
Vaavus Chhu dapaan kaaw tse moloom karakh na....."
(Neither is there any movement in the window curtain,
Nor does any lamp burn in the courtyard.
Puzzled, the crow requests the wind to move in and enquire..)
