sometimes during evenings i would suddenly find a group of crows making noise in the sky and flying past us over the sky . Elders looking at this would cry " Ya Guvv kaav yenivoal " meaning this is a Baraat of crows..


RAJATARINGINI AND EMPEROR AKBAR

After the annexation of Kashmir by Mughals, Emperor Akbar ordered for translation of Kalhana’s Rajataringini . He had always felt fascinated by this work. He ordered his court historian Abdul Qadir Badayuni to translate this work after going through the earlier work known as Bahar Ul Asmar ( sea of tales ) done under orders of king Zain ul Abdin. Quite often the emperor sought progress from the translator and at times the emperor would call him to his bed chamber . The translator would sit near the foot of the bed and read stories to Akbar from this Great work of Kalhana.Quite often this session continued till morning .Akbar always advised the translator to keep his language simple. Akbar would also pay some money to the translator which he accepted heartily and left the chamber after kissing the ground or what is known as performing Zameen Bos………
