SIR DAVID LEAN AND KASHMIR


   



Sir David Lean (1908-1991 ) film Producer , Director. Editor  and screen writer was in Kashmir  in 1983.He was seen at Habba Kadal , Rainawari , Kalash Pora Fateh Kadal, Safa kadal , Zaina kadal , Sharika Devi Temple  Hari Parbat , Dastgeer Sahib Khanyaar, TRC  and  State Bank Of India Residency Road  essentially selecting locations for his Film shooting.He was seen in narrow lanes of old city  moving calmly and   saying  


“  Namsate ! Salam ! Could you please bring down your TV Antennas for a week   to enable me to shoot your beautiful city and present it  as it  existed in 1920. “

The appeal also appeared in a Local news  “ SRINAGAR TIMES “ People acted on the appeal and removed  their Alumunium TV Antennas to enable him to shoot scenes for the cinematic adaptation of E.M. Forster's "Passage to India ". David lean also  directed classics such as "lawrence of Arabia" Bridge on River Kwai ”and" Dr Zhivago .
