Baam o Dar Khaamoshi ke Bhoj se Choor,
Aasmaanon se Joo e Dard Ravaan ,
Chaand Ka Dukh Bharaa Fasaan e noor ,
Shaahrahon ki Khaaq Mein Ghaltaan ,
Khwaab Gaahon mein Neem Taariki ,
Muzmahil Lai Rubaab e hasti Ki ,
Halqe Halqe Suron mein Nauha Kunan .

Terrace and the door steeped in silence ,
From the sky flows the river of desolation.
The moon's tragic tale of light
immersed in the dust of highways .
Semi darkness in the chambers of the night and 
the melody of life's lyre played out 
in faint , elegiac strains .
