RAINAWARI JOGILANKER ( SRINAGAR )BRIDGE PAINTED BY KASHMIRI ARTIST MASOOD HUSSAIN

I SPENT MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH IN THIS AREA. I ADD SOME LINES OF POET JAUN ELIA TO THIS EMOTIONAL PAINTING .

Hum to jaise yahaan ke the hi nahin.
dhuup the saayabaan ke the hii nahin.
Raaste kaaravaan ke saath rahe,
Marhale kaaravaan ke the hii nahin.

uss galii ne ye sun ke sabr kiyaa ,
jaane vaale yahaan ke the hi nahin.

Ho Teri Khaak-e-Aastaan Pe salaam,
Ham tere aastaan ke the hi nahin.
( Jaun Elia )

  3. Mota Sahib,
The painting is full of life and now for us being far off , it all looks like a fairy tale. My inlaws used to live at Rainawari and I remember you could spend hours on the bridge , river side without getting bored, time used to fly. Alas where have those days gone.

  4. Hello Sir,

    Hope you are doing Great.

This painting reminds me of the way from my Home to the School and back (When i was in Vishwa Bharati) and it was the only thing i remembered about Srinagar. Though i got a chance to visit Jogi Lanker last year since 1990. I was totally amused to see this painting. btw i am son of one of your friends (V K Dhar (PNB)) Residing at Karnal .
