THREE VIEWS OF POLO VIEW CROSSING SRINAGAR AND VISIT TO CHANDIGARH

I was in Chandigarh on 11th and 12th March 2010 on an official assignment . As usual , the city continues to be clean , well maintained and green . Spring is in full Bloom in this part of the country as well. I am always fascinated by the order and style of this  city . The wide roads , orderly traffic , green trees everywhere , Mind your own business crowds , Rose Garden , Nek Chand Saini’s Rock Garden , The Gallery of modern Art , Tagore theatre ,The University , Kapil Dev’s Hotel , The lake  and Pinjore garden nearby continue to play the charm. I have been coming to this city since 1974 and every time i visit this city , i decide to come again and again .  Long back i saw the punjabi playwright Balwant Gargi in this city only .  Who is not attracted by  the sprawling Shopping arcades of sector 17 ?  I also read Tribune of 12th March 2010. This paper was  founded by late Dayal Singh Majitha a wealthy sikh gentleman from Punjab who later joined lala Lajpat Rai in establishing Punjab National Bank in Anarkali Bazar lahore (first Swadeshi bank in the country) in 1895. This  bank later grew as a  premier Public sector bank of the country  .One news in Tribune caught my attention ;

“MBA   SARPANCH   AND   LOVING IT !    SHE QUIT A BUZZING

CORPORATE CAREER TO RETURN TO HER ROOTS . MEET CHHAVI   RAJAWAT ”

I salute the girl CHHAVI    RAJAWAT who is a SARPANCH now of a small dusty village in TONK district in Rajasthan . She is a graduate of lady Shri Ram College new delhi and a topper in MBA . Far from her corporate job in Bangalore wearing T shirts and jeans , Chhavi is now utilizing her management skills for the down Trodden of her village . She wants to solve the drinking water problem by bringing reverse osmosis technology to the village . She is utilizing her skills for  bringing the modern agriculture technology for her villagers . She also chairs the NREGA meetings for development of her village . Her desire is to bring jobs for the local youth . I hold  a strong belief  that social work needs  young , educated and committed people .We too  need many such brave and committed souls . Will any one from my native state also follow her footsteps and free our villagers from the Vote bank politics ? Enjoy this post with three photographs of Polo View area in srinagar  . Erstwhile Grindlays Bank building( Now J and K Bank Ltd. ) continues to be as clean as it used to be three decades back. Some more lines  written by poet Mohan Niraash  on Sheikh ul Alaam   ( Nund Reshi's ) Shrukh  :
BAAR KHODAAYA PAAP NIVAAR

Antaah karanan Andheiri Peyee Traetah

Deh Zun Valini Me Aaav samsaar .
Mayaa Zaluss Andh Katinuss Rataah
Baar Khodaaya Paap Nivaar .
( Mohan Niraash )

Our inner self Blazed in this thunder ,

While this world tempted us to embrace her,
Show us the right Path to move in this Maaya Web ,
Unburden Lord ! Unburden us of our sins.
