WHO SHALL CHANT GULREZ IN THESE SNOWY NIGHTS ?

Two poems by two kashmiris . These poems represent pain alone .

1
Desolate are the houses ,
Roads and shops .

Though fearless ,
fog daunts our search into desolation.
People lament in markets and streets ;
Looking from Windows, others too join the lament .
Bathed in Blood ,
our young are taken to graves .
In this dark night ,
stars peep as if to join chorus .
With a smiling face ,
he met his lord, making us all mourn behind .
In these snowy nights ,
who shall now chant GULREZ and for whom ?
Granted Death is the end of life ,
But why have they left so early !

( A kashmiri poem by Prof Hamidi kashmiri . Translation from original kashmiri by Syed Adil. Gulrez is Kashmiri a poem of pathos written by Maqbool Shah Kralwaari . It is just equivalent of Warris Shah’s Heer In Punjabi )

2
Na faaqe Moodh Kaanh Na Roodh Kaanh
Halam ratith Vatan Vuchhaan

( A Poem by kashmiri living away from his Motherland )

None of us died of starvation
None remained waiting for support to pour in .
Having traversed far off cities and towns,
Today we look as far as we can .
Alas !This spring  did never listen our complaint,
The complaint of loss of the river banks ,
The complaint of loss of our wular and Dal lake ,
The painful loss of tossing willows of our land ,
The loss of Hills , Shaalimaar garden ,
The yearning of visit to Dastgeer sahib Khanyaar ,
The yearning of visits to abode of goddess and our Tsraar e sharief ,
Who shall see this wound of mine ?
Who shall listen to this story of pain of mine ?
When do bloody storms seek paths to traverse ?
When does fire distinguish in reducing everything to ash ?
If the graveyards are packed to capacity everywhere ,
The ambers in the crematorium did also never cool down .
Unable to find a shady tree ,
The birds have flown away from their native soil.
